Change Database Compatibility In SQL Server

Yesterday i got a call from one of my friend and asking for how to change the Database Backward Compatibility in SQL Server 2008, So i though of post this article in my blog, its very easy to do with SQL Server management Studio, in this article i explain on both the ways, through GUI and T-SQ.

Option 1: Change the Database Backward Compatibility in SQL Server 2008 through SSMS.

Step 1: Connect to Desired server and write click on Database and click on Properties.


Step 2: Click on Options, and change the Compatibility level to desired compatibility and click OK.


Option 2: Change the Database Backward Compatibility in SQL Server 2008 through T-SQL.

Change the database name and COMPATIBILITY_LEVEL of below script to 80 for SQL Server 2000, 90 for SQL Server 2005 and execute. 

USE [master]
GO
ALTER DATABASE [AdventureWorks] SET COMPATIBILITY_LEVEL = 80
GO
